“I own several other Garmin products, Nuvi 650, Nuvi 1350 and Garmin 305 so I expected more from this product. I saw the other reviewers comments about the screen being dim and hard to read, but figured it can’t be that bad, but it is. Comparing it side by side with a friends Golf Buddy the Garmin Approach G3 screen is very dim. It’s easy enough to use and it is accurate. The touch screen is sensitive and if I carry it in my pocket, the next time I refer to it; it is often on some other screen or trying to measure an unintended location. Bottom line, it’s OK but I am wishing I had taken a closer look at some of the less expensive units on the market that will do the same thing.”

“Shortly after I got my Garmin Approach G3 I discovered that one of the courses I play wasn’t on the instrument. I called support and had to wait about 1/2 hour. That was bad but once I got someone to talk to things improved greatly. That person even spoke English! She was very nice and quite helpful. It turned out that they were just about to update the program and when they did about 3 days later I automatically got an e-mail to download the updated version. I’d heartily recommend the Garmin Approach G3 for all golfers.”

“I received the Garmin Approach G3 about four weeks ago and I love it. It is an incredibly accurate device so club selection can be done quickly and with total confidence. It is truly simple to use, moments after taking it out of the box, you will feel comfortable with its operation. A few times I have second guessed my Garmin Approach G3 only to find out that I was wrong. I am entirely satisfied with my purchase. I also bought the carabineer clip and it works great as well.”

“The Garmin Approach G3 is so easy to use, just like my Garmin I use in my car. NO DOWNLOADING, NO ANNUAL FEE…VERY COOL! Shows the layout of the holes; you can zoom in on a hole; pick the spot where you want to hit from so you could see how many yards to the center of green. There is a scorecard included.”

“At this point I would not recommend the Garmin Approach G3 product as I was informed by Garmin that my courses in Montana were added to the list of courses on their GPS. So far I cannot find them. If I can’t, I will ask for a refund.”
A lack of mapped courses seems to be the biggest issue with the Garmin Approach G3. Check to make sure your course is in their data bank before you buy. I also found that some users felt the touch screen was a little too sensitive, when accidently bumped it advances to another screen. There were also complaints that the screen is hard to read on bright sunny days.
